(Dan Tri) – In the context of the epidemic, Vietnam is still proactive and creative to complete the agenda of the ASEAN Year 2020 and actively promote solidarity and unify ASEAN’s common efforts to respond to the pandemic.

Delegates participate in the online conference

Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain Hoang Xuan Hai emphasized that during the online conference of the group of ambassadors of Asia-Pacific countries in Madrid, Spain on August 12.

The conference was attended by Ambassadors of 18 member countries in Spain and Ms. Ana Salomon, Director General of the Department of North America, Eastern Europe and Asia – Pacific of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, the Afghan Ambassador to Spain – the coordinator of the Group of Asia-Pacific countries proposed the Group’s program of activities in the coming time.

Ms. Ana Salomon, Director General of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke emphasizing the importance of the Asia-Pacific region in Spain’s foreign policy;

Ambassador Hoang Xuan Hai expressed his thanks for the attention of other countries as well as the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and said he would do his best to further promote relations between Spain and Asian-Thai countries.

The Ambassador emphasized that in the context that Asia-Pacific countries and Spain are facing unprecedented challenges caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, countries need to cooperate more closely.

Ambassador Hoang Xuan Hai also said that despite facing difficulties caused by Covid-19, Vietnam is successfully fulfilling its role as ASEAN Chairman in 2020. In the context of the epidemic, Vietnam is still proactive

The Ambassador also announced that Vietnam will begin its term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 period. In the past 7 months, it has launched many practical initiatives and worked with other countries in the Council.

The Ambassador also emphasized the positive development of Vietnam – Spain relations in recent years, especially since the two countries established a strategic partnership;

At the Conference, Ambassadors and representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also discussed and approved the upcoming agenda with many practical and creative activities in accordance with the current new situation.
